Unfortunately, most of these countries have some of the most marvelous travel destinations.

So, you might find yourself travelling to such a country on holiday or for business purposes someday. It is therefore important to know how you are supposed to handle yourself when you are in such a hostile environment. Offensive Conduct

When you travel to a place where people practice cultures that are totally different from your way of life, you need to avoid doing things or engaging in activities that might offend the locals. For instance, if you travel to a country where women are supposed to cover themselves completely when in public, you shouldn’t wear skimpy clothes because they might be considered offensive.

Before you embark on a journey to a dangerous region, do thorough research to know which areas are most unsafe for foreigners or visitors. For instance, you should try your best to avoid areas that are held by militia or have unstable governance structures because visitors are the easiest targets by criminals. It is also important to be aware of the safest routes in and out of the country, as well as the people who are friendly to visitors.

In places where two or more groups are at loggerheads, it is important for you as a visitor to remain neutral. Do not get sucked up into the politics of the region, especially if it doesn’t affect you directly because you are most likely going to be deemed an enemy of the opposing sides. This is not to say that you shouldn’t call out an injustice when you see one, but try to avoid unnecessary conflicts.

Since most of the troubled countries do not have working systems, the citizens there are engrossed in abject poverty. Consequently, crime rates in such areas are very high. So, if you flaunt your expensive necklaces, watches, cameras and clothes when you are walking around, you obviously become an easy target for muggers and robbers.

Finally, make sure that you fully understand the situation in the country you are planning to travel to before you embark on the journey so that you can have a clear picture of what you are getting yourself into. Also, ensure that you have an escape plan in case things become too hot for you.
